When it comes to musical instruments for kids, you don’t have to go out and spend a fortune. There are plenty of inexpensive DIY ideas out there that will be music to your ears and your wallet. Here are a couple to get you started:
Popsicle Stick Harmonica
This one requires a limited amount of supplies and takes just a few minutes to make. Sounds great already, right? Okay, first, gather these supplies:
2 Popsicle sticks
2 rubber bands
1 strip of paper the same size as the popsicle sticks
2 toothpicks cut the size of the width of the popsicles

Start by putting the piece of paper between the two sticks. Next, wrap a rubber band around one side. Now, slide a toothpick to the inside of a rubber band and put the other toothpick at the end of the other two sticks. Attach the other rubber band around the other two ends. All done! Now have your child blow air in between the two sticks and see what sounds come out.
Paper Plate Banjo

Here’s another easy music maker with a small supply list:
2 heavyweight paper plates
2 rubber bands
3 beads
1 paint mixing stick
Staple the two plates together. You can have your kids decorate the plates (if they want) before attaching the stick behind them. Glue beads to the ends of the stick. Now just stretch the rubber bands around the plates to make the strings. Start strumming and your child is in the band!
Egg Shakers

This is another quick and easy instrument for your kids. Be sure to use plenty of glue or this project will end on a sour note! You’ll need:
Plastic Easter Eggs
Corn Kernels
Super Glue (plenty!)
Fill each egg with a tablespoon of corn kernels. Glue the eggs shut. Be sure to go all around the eggs and maybe even around the inside rims. Close the eggs up and you’re done! Let the eggs set for about 24 hours just to make sure the glue is dry.
Making music has never been so easy, inexpensive, and fun!
