5 Easy Christmas Crafts for Kids

‘Tis the season!

Get your kids ready for this years holidays with 5 not-so-messy crafts we ‘ve put together to put some fun into your kids’ Christmas

1. Santa Ornament

For this salt dough Santa ornament, you’ll need:

• 1 cup flour
• 1/2 cup salt
• 1/2 cup lukewarm water

Instructions:

Pre-heat over to 200 degrees F.

First, mix salt and flour in a bowl. Then add water. Proceed to knead dough. Moisten hands with water if dough is too dry. Roll out dough to be 1/2 inch thick. Cover hand in flour, then press into dough. Trim edges with a butter knife, and poke hole onto top with a straw (to thread a ribbon into for hanging).

Bake for up to 2 hrs, flipping every 30min. Leave to rest overnight, then paint. Spray with a clear coat.

2. Handprint Christmas Tree

For this crafty tree, you will need:

• 25×25 canvas or cardboard painted white
• Green finger paint
• brown finger paint
• Yellow finger paint
• Yellow glitter for star
• Optional: colored pom pom’s or colored paint dots and glitter for ornaments

Instructions:

Use a paint brush to cover the palm of your child’s hand in green finder paint. Have him or her slowly press on to the canvas in straight rows as shown in the photo. Start out with more hand prints at the bottom and end with only one at the top. Repaint hand for each handprint. End with a yellow star of your liking! Let it dry for two hours, and you have yourself a great Christmas gift or decoration.

3. Reindeer Rick Krispie Treats

You’ll need:

• Pre-made Rice Krispie Treats
• Eye candies
• Red m&m’s
• Dark chocolate candy melts
• Popsicle sticks

Instructions:

Unwrap each Rice Krispie, and carefully inset each popsicle stick. Melt chocolate candy melts, and pour into ziplock back carefully. Close bag, and cut a small corner of it to draw the antlers. Use the candy melt to glue on the candy eyes and red “nose” too. Allow to dry for 20 minutes and you’re done!

4. Snowman Tea Light Ornaments

For these charming ornaments you will need:

• Tea lights (battery operated)
• Black Sharpie
• Red Ribbon
• Red Pipe Cleaners
• Red Pom Popms
• Orange Sharpie
• Hot glue gun

Instructions:

Using the black sharpie, color eyes and mouth onto each tea light. Using the orange sharpie, color the “nose” of the snowman, which is the actual light part of the candle. Allow the adult to use the hot glue gun to glue red ribbon as scarves, and pipe cleaners and pom pom’s as ear muffs.

5. Plastic Snow Globes

What a better way to make snow globes than by recycling this season!

You’ll need:

• Small glass jars
• Christmas figurines
• Ribbon
• Glitter
• Glycerin or water (glycerin makes glitter float better)
• Glue gun

Instructions:

Open jar and glue figurine to the inside of the jar lid. The jar will be sitting upside down. Fill jar with water or glycerin and add 1-2 teaspoons of glitter. Screw lid back on to jar. Glue it with hot glue if you worry your child might open it! Add ribbon for holiday feel! Shake shake shake to watch the “snow” fall.
